Industrial Heating Controls Installation
Project Overview
Industrial heating controls were designed, manufactured and installed by IGS Electrical as part of a complete refurbishment of an insulated warehouse facility. The project included a new LED lighting installation with integrated emergency lighting, together with a bespoke heating control system designed to maintain a stable internal environment while reducing unnecessary energy consumption.
Following the installation of new insulated wall cladding, the client required a complete electrical solution to protect valuable stored equipment from condensation and fluctuating temperatures.
Industrial Heating Controls
A bespoke industrial heating control system was designed and manufactured in-house to operate multiple electric unit heaters throughout the warehouse.
The system monitors the building temperature using a digital thermostat and automatically controls the heaters to maintain the required conditions without excessive energy use.
To improve efficiency further, magnetic door contacts were installed to monitor the loading doors. If a door is left open, the industrial heating controls automatically disable the heaters to prevent unnecessary heat loss. A local override facility was also incorporated to allow temporary operation when required.
The control panel was designed with future Building Management System (BMS) integration in mind, incorporating volt-free outputs for remote monitoring and expansion.
LED Lighting & Emergency Lighting Installation
As part of the refurbishment, we installed a completely new LED lighting system throughout the warehouse and production areas.
Energy-efficient LED luminaires provided significantly improved illumination while reducing maintenance requirements and electrical consumption compared to the previous installation.
Integrated emergency lighting was installed throughout the building to provide compliant emergency escape illumination, improving safety for staff and visitors in the event of a mains power failure.
Bespoke Control Panel Manufacture
Rather than relying on an off-the-shelf solution, we designed and manufactured a bespoke heating control panel specifically for this installation.
The panel incorporated:
- Digital thermostat control
- Heater control and protection
- Door interlock monitoring
- Heater status indication
- Local override controls
- Future BMS connectivity
Designing the panel in-house allowed the system to be tailored precisely to the client’s operational requirements while providing flexibility for future upgrades.
The Result
The completed installation delivered a modern, energy-efficient warehouse environment with intelligent industrial heating controls, high-performance LED lighting and integrated emergency lighting.
The combination of automated heating control, door interlocks and efficient lighting has helped reduce energy consumption, minimise maintenance requirements and provide reliable environmental protection for valuable stored equipment, while leaving the installation ready for future integration with a Building Management System.
