Occupied Domestic Rewire
Occupied Domestic Rewire
Purchasing a property that requires a full electrical rewire can be challenging, especially when you need to move in immediately. That was the situation for our customer in Coalville, who had recently completed their house purchase but, due to the property chain, couldn’t delay moving into the property.
Working from home throughout the project meant the rewire had to be carefully planned to minimise disruption while keeping the property safe, clean and functional each day.
Working Around the Homeowners
Rather than carrying out a traditional empty-property rewire, we completed the project in carefully planned phases, allowing the homeowners to continue living and working in the property while the installation progressed.
Using a professional wall chaser with dust extraction helped keep airborne dust to a minimum, while careful planning ensured disruption was kept as low as possible throughout the works.
The project included a complete rewire of a three-bedroom property, including the kitchen, bathroom, downstairs WC, garage and detached outhouse.
Futureproofing for Smart Technology
The homeowners were also interested in gradually introducing smart home technology over time through our sister company, AMH Smart Home.
To support this, we designed the installation with future expansion in mind. RF-friendly recessed back boxes were installed throughout the property, making them ideal for future wireless smart switches and devices, while additional infrastructure was incorporated where appropriate to simplify future upgrades.
This approach allows the homeowners to add smart lighting, heating controls, security and other home automation features as their budget allows, rather than needing to undertake further disruptive electrical work later.
Ready for the Future
Following completion of the rewire, we later returned to install an EV charger, demonstrating how planning ahead during a rewire makes future electrical upgrades far simpler and more cost-effective.
The completed installation provides the homeowners with a safe, modern electrical system that meets current wiring regulations while giving them the flexibility to continue upgrading their home for many years to come.
